Idaho Crisis & Suicide Hotline – Our Story

Since the phone lines started ringing in November 2012, Idaho Crisis & Suicide Hotline (ICSH) has been a critical lifeline for Idahoans in crisis and an entry point into our state’s behavioral health care system.

Whether a person is experiencing suicidal thoughts, mental health challenges, or calling on behalf of a loved one, a trained crisis responder is always ready to listen, twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year. ICSH provides free and confidential suicide and behavioral health crisis support.

For the first ten years, ICSH operated with trained volunteer crisis responders. We are grateful for the service the volunteer crisis responders provided in helping to prevent suicide and support Idahoans in crisis. As part of the implementation of 988, ICSH transitioned from volunteer crisis responders to a paid staff model for crisis responders in January 2023. Each day, ICSH helps prevent suicide and supports help seekers in crisis. We are proud to support Idahoans by responding to Idaho’s 988 calls.
